I took a look back at journal entries for this conference (formerly called 20Books Vegas), and I discoverd that every year I get inspired to do something that ups my game and takes me to another level. This year was no different—might even have had a bigger impact.

I can see it, Johnny. Next level. Beyond next level. There's a big change in progress in this industry, we're taking over for the old guard and becoming a whole new species. And I'm exicted, I get to be part of it. Again. It seems like I've been churned into the DNA multiple times through multiple evolutions. So I'm a nice, necessary gene, I think. And so are you.

It was really good to sit and chat with you again this year. We'll catch up, now that we're back home in Austin. But I sensed from you the same energy that was in me, while we were there. Something is coming, and we're on the bleeding edge of it.

Thank you so much for building up this wonderful community. I didn't realize all this time that Author Nation is the new 20 books to 50k, how foolish of me! I listen to each of the recordings on YouTube everyday while driving everywhere I go, hoping that I can be a better writer and be this artisan author. It must be so exciting to spread inspiration to big audiences. Congratulations for all your achievements till date and wishing you more success in the near future.

Well, thank you ... but I definitely didn't build the community! We just lit one of the sparks that helped the community to form ... and then others did it bigger and better. And of course there were plenty before us talking about this stuff, like Joanna and Joe Konrath and Dean Wesley Smith and Kristen Kathryn Rusch and Hugh Howey ... the list goes on and on. But it's weird to me to think that THIS community might be very different right now. Everything and everyone matters!

Thank you sharing your experience at this conference and also giving us a glimpse at the chain of events that led to it. It feels very full circle when you look at all of the pieces together. :)

Excited for what's to come!
